I have just recently build a new PC. I have an i7 7700k, Asus ROG STRIX Z270E mobo, and an H60 Watercooler. Opening a task such as google chrome makes my CPU temp spike from 40C (avg idle temp) to 66C then back down to 40C, and running prime95 spikes it to 80C. In gaming I average around 60-70C. My room temperature is around 22C constant. Just to even make sure, I remounted my watercooler to insure that it is safely secured and touching the CPU. My pump cable is attached to CPU_FAN. I am not sure what I should do anymore. Any help will be appreciated. Edit: I am not using any overclock

I am also wondering if these are normal temps for an i7.

Temp spikes aren't normal, but gaming temps are a little better (still not normal)

Intel advised 7700k owners to not overclock it as there is some temperature problem many 7700k owners are experiencing, so you're not alone.

Long story short, those temps are normal for the CPU and the cooler you have. Unfortunately you will get to enjoy Kaby Lake temp spike for the rest of the CPU life. Overclocking or not, people are reporting temp spike.
