Im looking for a new cpu and im confused between these two. I'll be pairing these with a 1060 6gb and 8gb ram. I'll be using this machine for gaming and some video editing.
Should i get the r5 1400 or an intel i5 7400/7500?

Do your name a favour and get yourself a new Ryzen PC. Jokes aside, if you are not planning to overclock, for gaming i5 7400/7500 would be better than the Ryzen 1400. For video editing Ryzen 5 1400 would be better than the i5 7400, but only slightly better than the i5 7500 due to the Ryzen's low clock rate. If you overclock, get yourself the Ryzen.
But if you want better performance for video editing, you should go with the Ryzen 1600 with 6C 12T or better.
Unless you can go for more cores, for all gaming intents at 4 Cores 8 Threads or lower, choose Intel for now.
I would recommend you to stretch your budget and get yourself a Ryzen 5 1600 and a B350 board.
