My motherboard kicked the bucket yesterday but I have a dilemma. Do I buy a new 1150 socket motherboard to house my 3 year old 4670k and ddr3 1600mhz ram which is currently in the system, or do I take it as an opportunity to upgrade to 1151 socket and ddr4 ram to futureproof my system whilst ebaying my old parts.

After research I can do - New motherboard (MSI Z270 GAMING M5), new processor (i5 7600k), new ram (ddr4 3000mhz). Sell old ram. Sell old processor. 25 quid mobo cashback. Free Ghost recon (I was coincidentally about to buy this to play with a friend yesterday before it died). Free gk-701 mechanical keyboard. £265 total after selling old parts (roughly).

Or - New motherboard (Gigabyte Z97P-D3) that works with old parts . Ghost recon separately. £120 total

I could also try sell my Razer deathstalker for around £50 on ebay if I was happy with the free gk-701, it's only 3 months old.

Help!

Upgrading to a 6600k is very poor value imo.
If you're happy with your current performance, go get the Z97

If.you want something new, I'd probably go with a Ryzen 1600(X) build and an AM4 board.
