Which motherboard/GPU should I go for in my build?

I'm wondering if you could help me finalise my build. I have around £2,000 to spend with Sony Vegas/Photoshop being the main programs I run. I've listed below which components I'm set on, but I would need some advice on the motherboard/graphics card as I don't intend to game. I'm currently running the GTX 770 lightning, which I didn't get much use out of, so I was wondering what graphics card would be good enough for video editing.

CPU - Intel i7 6900K - Eight Core
MOTHERBOARD - ???
RAM - 32GB
SSD - 500GB
HDD - 1TB
GPU - ???
CASE - ???

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

You will mainly know more
than me about Vegas rendering but last time I looked was opencl rendering more widely supported & as fast as cuda ??

As in a RX 480 (now replaced with the 580) performs about twice as well as a gtx 1080 which costs twice as much!

Also there are better options than PC specialist in the UK mate.
I would trust dinopc & overclockers to take much more care & attention when assembling & building

You will also get a better choice of components , they both stock just about everything available & will customise with anything you want - at a price though obviously.
With the new AMD Ryzen 7 out, are you still certain with the 6900k? It's a pretty expensive piece of work and Ryzen easily beats it out in value / dollar scenarios.

That said, ASUS X99-A II is a pretty solid board putting durability first as asus is known for. ASRock and Gigabyte are also nice brands but try not to get lost in the void of added features you don't need.

As far as video cards go, how much does that 770 get utilized? Do you really need a new one?

I'm pretty set on the 6900K, but I haven't really looked into AMD if I'm perfectly honest with you.

Thanks for recommending the motherboard, I will check out some reviews on it now.

I've had my 770 for over 3 years now, and I've gamed for approximately 200/300 hours. It's just not worth me investing in a really expensive card unless it helps with video editing. This PC I will be giving to a sibling, so all the parts would have to be new in this build.

Well, a $170 Radeon RX 470 (dunno how that fares in your area) will beat out a 770 by 25% and has a lower tdp, meaning it runs cooler and it has less power draw

As far as Ryzen 7 vs 6900k goes ; http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6900K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-1700/3605vs3917
-Note the "Slight" differences
-Lower TDP for Ryzen
-Much lower cost for Ryzen
-The 1700 can be overclocked to be brought on par with the 6900k

I think it's a good deal.

So I've taken your advice and put together a Ryzen build, what do you think?

This is a prebuild from where exactly ??

You should change the CPU to the straight ryzen 1700, up the gpu to the RX 570 , ram you want as fast as possible , absolute minimum 2400, 2666 prefererred , 3000/3200 is optimal.

You dont need a soundcard IMO, the onboard codecs nowadays are great quality.

You need to change the PSU model too , the vs series are dire for a workhorse machine.

I just put it together on PC specialist.

I want a GPU that can take advantage of CUDA technology for faster rendering. I'm not that clued up with building PCs, but if you could use the AMD Ryzen, and put together a computer for video editing on a £2000 budget, that would be much appreciated.

Yeah, what madmatt30 said about sound card and PSU - unless you got some really audiophile level gear/desire, it's not needed.

Corsair VS is also pretty poorly made. Lemme steer you over to EVGA G3 with 10 year warranty, amazing quality, and all around plain great.

I'd also really suggest not getting an 1800X, as you start to cut off some of the value that you would save from going AMD - still a great chip, but the performance improvement vs. 1700 non-X isn't really worth the additional couple hundred bucks you would pay for it.
