Weird Game Performance

Hello,

I recently built my new gaming PC and if t helps, here are the specs:
-I7 6700k Skylake
-MSI B150 M3 motherboard
-MSI GTX 1080 Gaming 8gb
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
-corsage vengeance 16gb ram
-evga GQ 750

So out of curiosity I ran an ingame benchmark in Warhammer total war to see the frame rates. My average FPS was 97.3 which is good but then I saw a YouTube video of the same benchmark with the same GPU and CPU, and that person's FPS was 119.5. I mean that's a pretty big jump I think. So could it be that my motherboard is holding my components back or is there another reason to this?
Here is the link to the video

In fact my GPU is slightly better than the one shown in the video. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions to improve my FPS or just a simple explanation of why my performance is the way it is, and how nothing could be done about it.

Thank you

Your motherboard should not have any impact on gaming performance, especially that one.

Your build is really nice. (I'm Jealous!)

Certain In-Game settings can make a big difference. Are your drivers up to date? How are your temperatures? Not overheating I hope! (A good tool to check with is CPUID HWMonitor)

A lot of hardware comes into consideration when it comes to benchmarks not only clock speed. Stuff like the speed of the Memory Ram and some motherboards are faster than others all of that makes a difference. Plus not all processors are equal some are better than others and overclock better too.

Thank you! I'm pretty happy with my build. According to geforce experience I do have the latest drivers. I used CPUID to stress the CPU and it seems to be working fine but I where can I check for temperatures?

Geforce experience doesn't show temps?

If not: CPUID HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner are really nice for measuring all system stats.

Using afterburner I got CPU temp is at 28 celsius when idle and when I stressed it with MSI kombustor, the cpu temp reached 40 celsius. I dont know if this helps.

I checked with cpuid and it showed the temp at 27 degrees celsius and max it reached 40. Is this acceptable?
