i7 7700k OC Problem?

Disclaimer: Total beginner at overclocking...
I have a 7700k with a evga Z170 classified k. I have never seen a more simple bios, well so I thought.
My dad has 6700k with msi board overclocked to 4.8 with solid 70c on aida64.
I looked and mine my oc tab has adaptive and override. Adaptive gives me another tab called "offset" which I never heard of before. I did set my vcore to 1.169 and an offset of +25 (after viewing evga's oc tutorial for a 6700k) I'm up to 4.6GHz since turbo mode is 4.5GHz.
I run occt and aida64 with cpu, fpu and cache boxes checked as people recommended however multiplier at 46 doesn't test at 4.6GHz it tests at 4.3GHz. Why is this? I uncheck fpu and cache on aida64 and it runs it at 4.6GHz.

My voltage after loading default and trying again I did 45 and Vcore as follows. 4.5GHz Vcore at 1.139 and stable as can be to aida64 cause with fpu and cache checked it's running at the 4.5GHz. Tried intelburntest same results.
That is the turbo boost frequency so is turbo boost effecting that?

Anyone know anything about evga boards overclocking bios or this offset setting?
I have read two different guides here and one on tweaktown. Everyone using a 6700k I would assume same rules apply I know the 7700k run hotter but other than that I'm at a loss.

Need photos of my E-leet tabs for current settings let me know. I'm completely setting in bios as well I know what they say about editing in e-leet.

It should be very similar between the 6700k and 7700k. I run a 6700k myself...

So I think adaptive is a bad idea for voltage. I don't use offset, but from what I understand it allows for some voltage variation to meet the chip needs. It's ok as long as temps are fine.

As for the chip reading at 4.3 instead of 4.6, I dunno. Sometime programs read chips wrong when OCing in my experience. Several of mine ready my chip at 4 ghz when I typically run it at 4.6 or 4.8...

On your chip, 4.6 seems a little low... You should get more out of the 7700k... While not all are created equal, I think 4.8 or 5.0 is pretty standard with them with a decent setup...

Okay so stick with a target Vcore cause offset is just probably confusing me more. Yeah I guess I'll try max 5.0 like I want. I have water closed loop cooler so maybe possible. If temps are fine. With the low vcore at 4.6 100% stable (I'm guessing due to reading wrong frequency) I should be able to make it to 4.8 easily, hopefully 5.0 then I'll be extremely satisfied.
One more thing if you know anything about the xmp profiles, I have one to turn on. As the other settings in the cpu section should I leave everything alone except for the multiplier like leave turbo mode enabled and don't mess with VCCIO or anything like that?

I put my new PC together a couple of weeks ago, I was working out incompatibles and trying to overclock my i7-7700K via the bios, but the bios never kept the settings, I ended up using Intel's XTU to set my CPU's clock and voltage, haven't had many issues with it yet, currently running at 5.0GHz albeit a little high voltage but still under what is considered max at 1.39V, with a Corsair H100 gtx cooler.

The only thing I modified was the cores from x46 to x50 and the VCore from default to 1.39V, obviously it
's best to start low and move up to when it becomes stable.

Mine put together last month. I just got it to 4.8GHz stable at 1.279V. (So I thought till my PC shutdown while writing this) Now 1.307V. Ran aida64, prime95 (version 26.6) and intel burn test and linx all for an hour each before the shutdown.

One problem throughout is I had to use adaptive setting in bios on override it would not keep my Vcore I'm assuming there was no way to check as e-leet would not open. As well keep getting BSoD every 3-12 minutes.

Now e-leet is opening and been on for 20 minutes so possibly stable? But 1.307 seems a little high to me. First time overclocker, again. On adaptive no offset added just pure vcore.

As of now 4.8GHz with a evga clc 280 cooler. Will try for 5.0GHz after running a stress test might actually use what you have used XTU. Hopefully some luck will happen for me now.

EDIT: Used the bios to configure voltage and on adaptive though no way to use override for steady voltage as on adaptive it did take a auto set of +25 offset which seems okay. Vcore at 1.269 I took it to 5.0GHz no problems as of right now. ran intel burn test and it passed at about 78c and ran occt and aida64 at 5.0GHz all through for an hour and temps around the same sometimes higher and lower. Max I seen was 81c. Though as I said during testing on aida64 fpu and cache still saying 4.7GHz now at 5.0Ghz. On Occt started at 5.0Ghz drops and runs it at 4.7GHz. Though after occt ended the log results say 5.0Ghz so I guess just tests saying wrong frequency during tests on certain programs. I also just tested using XTU and ran it for 30 minutes and passed with a new voltage. Static voltage of 1.275 from 1.269 (cause I got a BSoD while playing H1Z1) So if anyone else has something to add to make sure I'm getting 5.0Ghz perfectly stable please do let me know. As I said first time PC builder and Overclocker.
