Is quad core needed for gaming, and which PC should I buy?

For reference I will be playing games such as CS:GO, H1Z1 King of the Kill, and possible GTA V.

I cannot decide between the Dell Inspiron Desktop with 7th Gen Intel® Core i3-7100 Processor 3.9GHz
or the
iBUYPOWER WA550G Gaming Desktop PC with AMD FX-4300 Quad-Core Processor.
If quad core is really necessary I would definitely go with the iBUYPOWER, but otherwise I would go with the Dell as it comes with a monitor and mouse/keyboard, so is cheaper overall.

Quad core isn't NECESSARY but it's very highly recommended for anyone who wants a decent experience. The FX 4300 is absolutely garbage and isn't a true quad core, that would be a terrible PC to play any of those games on it will be underpowered in both graphics and processing. The Dell is OK in processing, but you can do better for the money and H1Z1 and GTA V will absolutely not run on integrated graphics. If you want to be playing these games you either need to be spending more or building your own computer, otherwise you'll be getting terrible framerates.

Thank you for the info. How hard is it to build a PC yourself, and also where can you have someone build a custom one for you? I think I would prefer pre-built but really can't find one for my $500-$600 budget.

You're going to have a really rough time finding a prebuilt in the $500-600 that can play those games at decent framerates. I would really suggest watching a video on how to build a PC on youtube, it's really easy if you follow the instructions and will save you a lot of money. If you can't or don't want to, then places like Fry's will put together parts for $60-75, but it's something you could have done yourself with an hour and some patience. As far as prebuilts go, in the price range you're looking at companies are just looking to pawn off their old and obsolete parts to people who don't know any better unfortunately.

This is the only computer that I could find on newegg that is in your price range and would play those games somewhat well at lower settings.

This would be significantly faster but at a higher cost. I would still recommend building, you can build either of these for ~$150 less than what these companies are asking but you gotta do what you gotta do.
