Hello, I've been having an issue for a while trying to port forward. I used to be able to port forward with no problem until we upgraded our plan. I still even have the same modem/router I had before but I am no longer able to port forward since then. I've been mainly trying to port forward to 25565. I've tried things like: Disabling my firewall, Changing wifi key type, getting rid of my anti virus program, using a different laptop and making exceptions on my firewall and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Minecraft?

Are you able to access the modem/router admin pages?

Port forwarding is set up and managed via the router.

Go back and double check your port forwarding configuration. Verify that you entered the correct port forwarding information: i.e., the static IP for the computer, the correct MAC, etc....

Yeah I have access to the admin pages and it only asks me to input ports (25565 in all blanks) and ip (which is my pc's IP address and not the one I'm supposed to give other players to join.) I've tried doing it with both a Static and a Dynamic IP and I still get the same results

What make and model is your router?

I would like to take a look at the Port Forwarding instructions via the User Guide/Manual.

And the Minecraft PC needs to have a static IP that is outside of the available DHCP IP address range.

Traffic/packets for minecraft looking for port 25565 will need to know which IP on your network to go to. The router provides that information.

And the IP must remain constant (static).

Plus that static IP needs to be reserved on the router per the PC's MAC (Physical address of the active ethernet adapter). You can get the MAC via the command prompt by entering "ipconfig /all" (without quotes).

Hello,
It's an Arris TG862, but it appears as TG862G-NA in portforward.com which is the site I used to guide me during my first port forwarding attempt long ago which worked but doesn't work anymore.

Also, I got my static IP from a portforward software too, but I think that the static IP is still inside the DHCP address range so this could possibly be the problem. I attempted to change my IP address manually, but after It wouldn't let me connect to my wifi anymore so i switched back to the last one I had.

No other routers - correct?

Run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) from the command prompt and post the results.

As I understand it, your Arris is a modem/router with a default IP address of 192.168.0.1 Caveat being that you have not changed that....

You should be able to use that IP and login into the router's admin pages.

In those pages you should be able to set the available DCHP IP adress range. May be something like 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.254.

Reduce the range to the number of devices normally on your network with perhaps a couple of extra IPs for guests.

For example set the end DHCP IP address to something like 192.168.0.11 (all subnet masks 255.255.255.0).

Then reserve IP 192.168.0.12 as a static IP for your Minecraft computer via its' MAC.

Then on the router set up port forwarding 25565 to go to 192.168.0.12
