I did not realize that the Samsung NVMe 960 Pro M.2 was not compatible with my hardware. This is the first SSD I have purchased, and I wanted a good one. I definitely got that lol. But I just want to use it now. I am fine with an I/O adaptor for USB 3.0, but everything I have found referencing this is from last year, and they all say one is not available yet.

Is one available now? If not, what is the best SSD to get for a 3.0 enclosure. My motherboard only has SATA 2, so I would rather use USB 3.0 ports.

Usb3 ssd are fairly pointless

Their main benefits is robustness & size because
of no moving parts .

You'll be paying a massive premium for that.

Ssd in a ps4 or Xbox one ??

Wouldn't bother , both are limited by sata 2 interface.

Even if it were available, why on earth would you force a NVMe drive through a USB interface?
What a waste of a drive.

Given this:
My motherboard only has SATA 2

Just get a regular SATA SSD. It will be a bit slower than if it were connected to a SATA III port, but not a lot.
And the system will actually be able to boot from it.

Send that 960 Pro back, and get something your system can actually use.

It's non-refundable. I would like it to be as fast as I can use. I can use 3.0 USB for what I need it for. I might do what you said, BUT, I still want to know what the best external is. If I put an internal SSD into my Xbox one for the OS, AND an even faster External one for my games, I wonder how well that would run. I want to find out.

I found one that rated highly, the SanDisk Extreme 500G portable. Since no one has answered my question, I'm going to just get it. I just wanted to hear from real people instead of what were probably just articles promoting this line of SSD's as a marketing strategy.
