This is something i have not encountered before.
i recently upgraded from a gtx 580 (MSI) to a gtx 1060(also MSI)
and ever since i have experienced that my pc reboots at random during low performance tasks such as webbrowsing or just leaving it idle. the reboots happen most when the pc is about to go into standby mode.
but it doesnt do that when im playing videogames. when i have a game on the menu screen or on pause i can leave the pc for multiple hours without any error.

FULL SPECS:
MAINBOARD: MSI P67A-C43
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 600w
CPU: Intel core i7 2600k 3.4ghz quadcore.
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 gaming x 6g (old was MSI GeForce GTX 580 gaming)
RAM: 8GB

KEEP IN MIND!
I am not an unexperienced pc user
i have already cleared out all old drivers to install new ones, used multiple BIOS configs and i have checked for compatibility with all my parts. my pc does NOT show a BSOD or anything so i cant provide anyone with error codes :(

if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Put the original card back in, does it still crash? If not, update the BIOS on the motherboard, try again. You have an older motherboard with a new video card, could be an issue there. Test with one RAM stick at a time. Test your card in another system to make sure the video card is good.

thanks for the answer, i think i figured it out already. while taking a good look i saw my cpu fan came off (a pushpin had loosened up) a bit and turned my thermal paste rock solid. so it overheated.
idk why it only rebooted while not gaming but i hope some new thermal paste and a cooler replacement will fix this.
