I am planning on taking my work laptop with me out of town and working while staying at a hotel. My work laptop was provided by the company and I must use a VPN connection. The hotel only has Wi-Fi. Is there a way to get a VPN connection without putting some kind of software on my computer?

VPN does not care if the hotel has wired or wireless connetion as long as it is an internet connection.
Depending on your work connection they may put software on your laptop or might just configure the VPN connection software built into windows.
Windows 10 VPN connection is not very user friendly so aftermarket software will probably be easier to use.
After your laptop is connected to the hotel internet and you can browse webpages (hotel my have a username/password before you can get onto their internet) then you start the VPN connection and you will be connected to your companies network.
