So i did some upgrades to my Pc . i had a :
CPU: I5 4670K .
GPU: GTX 780 .
RAM: 8GB (DDR3 1600).
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3.
PSU: Cooler Master B700 700W

Now few days ago i got a new case..SSD. 8gb more RAM, new cpu cooler (Cryorig H7 ) and a GTX 1080.

everything runs great , but every now and than system restarts itself for no reason. it has happened like 3-4 times over the last 3 days since i upgraded. first i overclocked to 4.2 GHz but i set things back to default and it still restarted as i said.
My guess is mybe its the new cooler cuz i droped it once while mounting it, also put bit more paste than i shoul have but it didnt spill over or ....

i also ran the intel burn test and it said that its stable.

Maybe cpu is heating too much cause of that broken cooler or paste and it is shutting the system down to prevent damage or if it is some software problem then it can be resolved by reinstalling windows.

But is there a way to know what could it be? do i have to go and reinstall the cooler?
and thank you for answering :)

First, you do need the just right amount of paste between cooler and CPU. Too much or too little can cause problems. Intel has a great application guide here.

Second, if your RAM kits (or individual DIMMs) do not have the same specs, when combined, you have to adjust your BIOS/UEFI settings to:
1. The highest voltage of the mixture;
2. The highest timing/latency of the mixture; and
3. The lowest frequency/speed of the mixture

Note that configuring the RAM settings in the BIOS/UEFI won't guarantee that the mixture(s) play well together, so if after doing this, remove the recent additional 8GB (assuming the system was running fine prior to the upgrade, that is) and check stability again. Also be aware that if the voltage on one kit or DIMM exceeds the maximum voltage of another, you can cause problems with the lower voltage kit.

Also, when occupying all four DIMM slots on your mobo, you'll often have to increase the voltage a little to gain/maintain stability. This can also be problematic with lower voltage DIMMs.

If it started acting strange after upgrading that thing and u even dropped it then yes that is the only option i see.

well i bought 8gb ram and it was the exact same as the original one, crucial blastic sport ddr3 1600... and yes, the system was running with no problem before the upgrade.

To be sure stress test every component u upgraded for few hours or the quick way just change the cpu cooler with the default one intel provides.

Then there is only one option left reinstall the cooler with the appropriate paste.

just clean off the old paste and reinstalled the cooler, this time the screws went in easier and my overall temps are down by like 5-6 degrees now ( they are around 32-36 now). hopefully no more restarting this time :).

Maybe cooler is broken after dropping thats'y it's making that noise and as for the blue screen goes it mostly points toward hardware problems or sometimes software problem. Well the best thing u can do now is stress test the components and see when that blue screen appears (especially cpu and ram)

Memtest 86 for full night and it runs outside of windows environment. burn it onto usb or cd with rufus.

i will try that ram stress test for sure..thank you ....the cpu fan...well i can see it spinning and slows down at times, even look like stopping but its probably me seeing it wrong cuz i see that the fan speed is about 870 rpm and it goes down to like 400 or some...at times

so now i have tested the ram,, Hard drive and stress tested the cpu,,, cooler working fine with low temps and 85 temps max during stresstest..

Now its best to just reinstall windows then only you can tell whether it is happening cause of software or hardware problem.
