I have a build in mind and I would to get a GPU that lasts at least for the next 6 years. I have asked around and I have received various opinions which helped me made up my mind, but reading the next opinion changes my mind again so I would like this forum to settle it once and for all.

What I read and heard is that the RX480 has DX12 support and Vulkan and what not which according to people I asked, made it more future proof than the GTX1060. They also said that for future Triple A titles I can get another RX480 for cross fire which then can be able to support decent FPS at mid or high settings while the GTX1060 cannot. However I heard that Crossfire is worse than SLI, so this may be a very minor issue to me.

I see that the GTX1060 is better than the RX480 in terms of FPS. I also see from videos that the RX is much more noisy than the GTX which isn't that big of an issue to me. The RX's power usage when overclocking and not overclocking is much higher than the GTX.

Price is not an issue to me, the Sapphire is only $50SGD more expensive than the Palit.

The build I have in mind is as followed:

Intel i5-7500 3.4GHz 6MB LGA1151
Asus H110M-Plus USB 3.1 DDR4
G.Skill 8GB 2400Mhz CL15 1.2V DDR4 (2 x 4GB)
Tecware F3 Micro ATX Casing (Black/Red)
Corsair VS650 650W 80+ Power Supply
Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM 3.5" Internal HDD
SanDisk 120GB Ultra II SSD

If you recommend the GTX1060, would you suggest the Asus GTX1060 Dual 3GB or the Palit GTX1060 Dual 3GB?

Side note: My whole budget is less than $1.2k SGD ($860USD)

Side note: I REALLY love the Asus' white RX480 because DAMN it looks beautiful. Is it better than the the Sapphire?

Solution
1 more thing. get a better PSU. a corsair cxm450 or seasonic s12 520w or at the very least an antec VP 450p
make sure the h110 has the latest bios and if not, upgrade it in the shop itself. if its a 2 ram slot one, better to go for a 1x8gb now.
better to get a 240gb. 120gb gets filed fast. u can reinstall windows again later on a ssd. go with a HDD alone if u r tight.

and yes regarding GPU, rx480 4gb over 1060 3gb any day ;)

I would probably opt for the RX-480. I have both the GTX 1060 3GB and a RX-480 8GB. They are about equal for performance, but the extra VRAM of the 480 will come in handy as games demand more and more memory for textures, etc. *
Get whichever 480 you like the best. They can all be OC'ed. I opted for the ROG STRIX https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-STRIX-RX480-O8G-GAMING/
But you need plenty of room in your case for it. It's LONG.

* In DE:MD @ max textures for instance, the 3GB 1060 slows down. Probably because it has to off load to system memory occasionally. The 8GB 480 keeps running strong.

Changed the RAM to a Corsair Vengeance C9 8GB stick and that saved me $5, also changed to PSU to the CXM450M and saved another $5, that saved me a grand total of $10 :D

The SSD is there for Windows only and some apps like Lightroom, only need the speed for the start up of the desktop and some minor apps.

Thanks for the reply :)
