Im looking to overclock my rx 480 to get a bit more quality on games. I was topping out at 90 on dota the other day but now sits at about 60 fps. I still have trouble with skipping on Player Unknown Battlegrounds with everything set to very low, i bought this and upgraded my ram hoping to get some smoother frames but it hasnt seem to make a difference so i was interested in overclocking. I've searched on google about it but theres only a handful about clocking the x gaming 8gb so i was wanting to get some help here. Right now its default on

auto core voltage
Temp limit- 90
Core Clock (MHz) -1303
Mem Clock- 2000
Fan speed- auto

this is all with it being on "overclock" mode under the msi gaming app

Agreed this is a CPU bottleneck at play (although wouldn't expect such low performance in Dota?). PUBG is pretty CPU intensive so that would be your let down in performance for that game, hopefully future optimisation patches will help your performance but i wouldn't hold my breathe for it being soon. Best option imo would be an upgrade to an i5 7xxx or even better a Ryzen 1500/1600 they will pair very well with your GPU and nothing should hold you back from running most games at High/Ultra settings in 1080p 60 FPS with your RX 480 8GB. Overclocking the GPU won't do much to help here, the CPU may help give some gains but it's not going to fix the bottleneck no matter how far you can get it. Hope this helps :)

Hello i had about 100-110 fps in dota2 and now i am playing at 50-60 with fps drops at 20 sometimes. So probably from what you said my CPU bottleneck at play? I also notice that my activity usage is moving around 0%-100% all time and the power drain from my GPU is 50-70 Watt.

Indeed it isn't sadly but there isn't really any other options except buying a new Motherboard. The only CPUs stronger than yours on your chipset is the FX-83xx and FX-9xxx but they offer only small performance over your current CPU and are still fairly weak and outdated to today's standards.
