Built pc lagging

Built a brand new pc, ran everything I threw at it max settings and one day updated gpu driver to the latest and everything is lagging. can't play any games anymore and everything is slow

i7 6700k
gigabyte z170x gaming 7
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
gigabyte gtx 1080 g1
500gb ssd
1000 watt psu

Could be virus problem. Do a full disk format and install a fresh copy of windows and antivirus software like Kaspersky or Bitdefender.

i did a complete wipe on my drive and after i reinstall everything, its still laggy

the cpu? yes. this motherboard has a button thats physically on the board that overclocks it to 4.4ghz

Try running everything at stock speed. I have the same cpu and it auto overclocks to 4.2ghz.

after I ran into this issue, I set everything to stock but this all only started because I updated to the newest nvidia driver. I tried rolling back and using different versions with no fix
