I currently have a Samsung Evo 850 500gb being used as OS/programs and a few games but it's always at max capacity. I have a 4tb HDD for other storage like music and files. I wish to expand my SSD to store more stuff, should I get another 500gb and Raid 0 it, or should I get a 1tb and set the 500gb for OS/programs and then install my games on 1tb?

Going with dual ssd strategy too. Nvme for OS + games/windows bloat and 2nd ssd for games (or possibly movie editing etc). Both only 256GB though.

Look into Intel Optane as that can speed up large hdd's. I think I'd prefer sata ssd in your case as you can get larger volume for cheap. If you are actually on a budget Trion 150 in 512GB format can be a great choice. I think sata ssd's would be fairly easy to add to your system, just buy a new one every 1-2 years to put some new games on it. Nvme slots are limited ;)

If you filled 500 up so fast, the 1tb model might be a better idea as its already twice as much as you have now (ignoring the 4tb drive) and setting up 2 x 500 raid only gives 500 extra

can then move some of whats on 500 onto 1tb to keep it fast, filling ssd up just makes them slower.

So should I do what I said and use the 500gb for os/programs, an then use 1tb for games? or if I want only a few games will another 500gb be sufficient.
Also is Raid with SSD simply a big no?

I would get 1tb only as its more space to grow into, instead of needing a new drive sooner. 1tb drives also have more spare memory to use for error correction compared to a 500gb, so they should last longer. I guess use it for games as that was your intention. Do you have games on C now as I can't see how you used 500gb already? I guess i am different but of 250gb, i have used 50gb so far...

I had games on my 500gb ssd but because I was at max capacity I couldn't even get antivirus updates installed lol. I had like 4 games on it but since games nowadays take up like 30-60gb per game, it takes up a lot of space. So I moved over my games onto my HDD. Also should I be getting SATA3 SSD or go for NVMe SSD?

All my games live on my 2tb drive, and i haven't installed all my steam games as I am only using 63gb... i was a little amazed myself. Guess I don't play FPS or much at all on PC, i stick to my PS4, so my games aren't very big. I haven't felt need to buy a ssd just for games yet. I guess in time, once hdd are no longer used, ssd might be the slowest storage form given optane and nvme are faster.

ssd vs nvme ... i don't think you will notice a great difference in games but for future use, I would pick nvme only as its faster than the sata 3 connection used in ssd.
