As the title says, 980 Ti or 1060 GTX and latter? For gaming of course. Regardless of the cost, what is better in terms of performance? And explain please. And tell me what brand is better too.

Thanks in advance :)

I see. Thank you a lot.. So 1080 is actually much better. When I was looking for comparison, I found a website where 1080 is 100$ cheaper than 980 Ti, which is weird. And as for the brand, is there any really difference? If so, which is better? Asus, MSI, GIGABYTE or Evga?

For gaming 1080Ti>1080>1070>=980TI>1060 6GB=980>1060 3GB
However for some tasks the 980Ti beats the 1070

Edit: the reason why a 1080 is cheaper than a 980Ti is because the 980Ti was the best care of its series and went for a lot of money. Price drops weren't as big as with the 1080 which was offered as a much lower price in comparison in the first place.
Since 980Tis aren't made anymore there's also a short supply on them.

As for the 1080s: brand doesn't matter. They all perform roughly the same and I have yet to read a bad review about a card, no matter if it's from Asus, MSI, Palit, Inno3d or PNY

Very detailed, thank you so much! :D One more question, would the brand matter if it was 980 Ti?

because 980ti originally comes out at base MSRP of $650 (factory overclocked model often cost $700+). and just recently nvidia did knock $100 off from 1080 original pricing making base 1080 should start at $500. officially nvidia never cut the price for 980ti even after officially launch 1080/1070 into the market. just that before 1080 comes out some board partner decided to give a bit of discount to 980ti for "stock clearance" because they know 1070 which nvidia touted will be faster than titan x maxwell (yeah marketing buzz FTW) will going to start at $380. heck even at $450 which is the base price for 1070 FE it is considered to be significantly cheaper than most 980ti for literally the same performance. but once the stock for 980ti starts to dry the price actually start going up.

as for 1080 maybe you want to look for build quality and customer support from the company. because overclocking wise regardless of how extreme the build quality are even the most basic will overclock as good given you can give it adequate cooling. unless you want to void your warranty from the get go by using custom BIOS and try to break world record score :p

Thank you both! Now, Im sorry for constant questions, but I keep finding new things. 1080 founders edition and 1080 G1 gaming, what's the difference between the 2?

And someone said no need for 1080 as it's not so much different than 1070, it's just wasting a lot more money. What do you think?

G1 gaming has custom PCB, custom cooling and custom clock. At the end of days however, it's still the same card. Custom everything does allow G1 to have higher clock out of the box, much better cooling and RGB LED. It is however still much restricted by power and voltage like reference, unlike some more extreme cards like the Aorus from same maker Gigabyte. You can find G1 for $490 whereas refreshed Aorus Xtreme is $560 for slightly faster core clock and mem clock (it does have much higher power and voltage target though). Gigabyte used to do Windforce and G1, with G1 being the better binned one. They now cancel G1, and add Aorus, so you will only see Windforce, Aorus and then Aorus Extreme on the GTX 1080 Ti.

You usually buy reference/founder edition if you truly want a blower type cooling (works for certain cases) or you want to rip off the shroud and slap on waterblock (which would come out cheaper and better than buying one with waterblock on it). But other than that, the non reference is always better bang for buck.

founders edition is nvidia reference design for 1000 series. and they are expensive than most custom designed 1080 out there because with 1000 series nvidia finally decided to charge premium on the metal shroud that being used on their reference design. even if you must go with blower type cooler you better go with board partner regular solution which is a whole lot cheaper. for thermal and noise custom 1080 with open air will win against founder edition any day (like the G1 Gaming; unless you have super cramp build like mini ITX case). and if you want to overclock custom 1080 is definitely the better choice.

there is quite a gap between 1080 and 1070. in general 1080 is about 20%-25% ahead of 1070. with OC 1070 can almost matching 1080 but still fall quite short (and 1080 can also be OCed). but before the price cut of 1080 (AFAIK there is no official price cut for 1070) the is quite significant cost difference between the two. 1080 usually start from $600+ to $700+ while 1070 starts at $380. but now 1080 starts at $500 (sometimes cheaper depending on deal) while 1070 pretty much still cost like it was before. so for some people that extra cost 1080 have over 1070 are more justifiable now than it was before.

btw i just found some crazy deal on 1070? but the promotion will end soon. that is if you buy from newegg:

this is the cheapest 1080 i can find at newegg right now:

The biggest difference you'll feel between a FE and a G1 is that the FE has a different cooling concept and is a "blower style" card
Which exhausts the hot air directly out of the case while the fan sucks in air within your case.
This causes the card to be ideal in mini and nano cases where airflow is a big issue.
However it's louder and usually runs hotter

The G1 works the other way - the fan vents the heat of the chip into the case, which cools the card very effectively in all full and 99% of all mid-towers cases. Doing this is also way quieter as it uses more and bigger fans to do so.

As for 1080 Vs 1070 -- the difference is big enough.
The question is if you'll be needing a 1080.
For 1080p a GTX1080 is a bit overkill.
For 1440p the GTX1070 is rather minimum

Thank you both again. You guys are helping lots! So I have 1080p. What's your advice? 1080 G1 or 1070?

for 1080p 1070 is more than enough. but going with 1080 probably will let you keep the card a bit longer before upgrading to the new one in the future. that 20%+ lead on 1080 might not really noticeable right now especially if you only play at 1080p 60FPS. but when more demanding games comes out you will see where 1080 capable of maintaining 60FPS more than 1070.

Interesting thought. Which is the best in this GTX 1070 list? Anything below 500$
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Nvidia-GTX-1070/Rating/3609#Prices

As for 1080 list, I chose 1G gaming.
