Hello everyone. I am worried about the temperatures of my 7700k. I have a Corsair Spec 02 case.

Right now I am running this:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/467072/Hyper_212X_CPU_Cooler_with_dual_120mm_PWM_Fans

I am not overclocking. But my room does get warm and not overclocked my CPU got up to 85-87C a few nights in a row.

What are your suggestions for the cooling? I do not want to do any delidding since I don't want to void the warranty on the processor.

I was thinking about a Corsair h80i v2. But I have not heard how it performs on the 7700k.

Thank you for your help guys.

It gets up to 85c when doing what? I have the hyper 212 evo with a 7700k, my temps stay below 70c while gaming even in cpu intensive titles, mostly sits around 60-65c in games. Only during stress tests will I see temps in the 80s and that is with a mild overclock 4.6ghz@1.2v. What is your case fan setup? That cooler should do better than that, especially if you are seeing those temps in something other than a stress test.

I was playing PUBG and it got that hot. I have 2 intake fans on the front. 2 intake fans on the top and 1 exhaust fan in the back pulling air out right behind the 212.

Thats a lot of positive pressure, I would try to make it more neutral. Maybe two font intake, one bottom intake, one rear exhaust, and one top exhaust.

However regardless that should be enough case air flow even with how you currently have it set up. I'm thinking either the cooler was not mounted properly, were you careful to tighten the four screws in a cross formation as to apply even pressure to the top of the cpu? Or you did not use enough thermal paste, I would say its more likely the latter.

I can try re apply the paste. I'm pretty it was done right.

Try the x method for applying the paste, put a thin X from near each edge of the cpu. Assuming you are using non conductive paste that wont hurt anything if it drips over the side of the cpu, its better to use too much paste than too little. Linus tech tips has a video were he dumps a whole tube of paste on a cpu and temps where pretty much the same as your standard pea method for applying paste.

are you running your fans on the 212x at 100%?
