Hello everyone,

I just bought PC ONLY to play dota2, nothing else.I wonder why I have so low fps rate(70-75 medium settings). Dota2 is an old game. People on benchmark tests have a lot of over 100 fps with this hardware. I do realize that this computer is not good for games, but I thought it would be enough for dota2.

AMD FX-8300 8 core 3300 Mhz (4.2 GHz Turbo 16 MB cache)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti Titanium OC 128-bit
Gigabyte GA78-LMT-USB 3 6.0
AMD 760G, s.AM3+
8 GB (DIMM DDR3, 1600 MHz)
Windows 7 64-bit
res: 1920/1080

what i did
1)FPS stays almost the same when changing in-game video/graphics settings (eg. Changing from 'Ultra' to 'Medium/Low' - Very slight change in FPS; example: 65 FPS on Ultra > 70-75 on Medium/Low)
2)donwloaded parkcontrol and using it on high performance
3)all drivers are up to date (graphic, windows updates, mobo?)
4)changed all setting too high performance

I really do not know what to do anymore. Please help.
(sorry for my bad english)

https://steamcommunity.com/app/570/discussions/0/154644045362875991/ seems your FPS is about right for the video card. Cold be the CPU limiting you even though it's a decent one, it's single core performance is not as good as Intel. FPS not changing with quality settings is most often a CPU bottleneck.

It could be the HDMI cable. HDMI wasn't really intended for gaming, it was intended for movies, where input lag wasn't even a consideration.

Also, DOTA 2 may be an old game, but there's often a lot going on onscreen, which can cause lag no matter how old the game is; in addition, DOTA 2 is still being updated, meaning that while it came out a while ago, it's still being kept relatively current, including its graphics.

Since the 7.00 Update, Dota 2 got worse in performance. I mean, when I bought my computer years ago (Phenom II 965 + Ati 6870) Dota 2 was on Beta and I could run the game at ~100 Fps Maxed out. Now the same setup achieves ~30 Fps, so I upgraded to the same setup as you.

Try doing overclock. I get around 80-90 fps, with drops on team fights, as always, with the FX 8300 at 3.8 GHz. Also, check in your BIOS you have turbo core enable, it helps.

I assume the tests you saw are pre-7.00. Unless anyone here says it maintains 100 fps in 7.xx, I will consider these benchmarks obsolete. Many people reported performance loss.
