I can't believe it, but I accidentally snapped a single blade off one of the three fans on my brand new ASUS Strix 1080 ti. Since then I've been having loads of temp, fan and boot issues - didn't occur to me until now they made be related. Is it bad to use the card with one broken blade on one of the fans??? And if so - how do I fix? Freaking out as this card obviously is not cheap.

Solution
A broken blade will cause that fan to be out of balance. I would not recommend using the GPU until repaired. I would recommend contacting Asus for assistance.

It kills me that I think you are right... I've been having loads of CPU temp and fan problems since then (Corsair h100i v2 sounds like a jet engine when gaming and even idle, sometimes PC refuses to boot and instead goes to black screen with blinking cursor until I reset a few times). I don't know how or if these could be related to the GPU blade... do you think that's possible?

I'm contacting both ASUS and NewEgg to see what my options are for replacement/repair. Thanks again

Yeah, I wouldn't think so but thanks for the backup. So my computer is also possessed then. Terrific.

No - computer was running just fine prior! I only received and installed it Monday afternoon... and broke it Monday night. Noticed the stability issues starting Tuesday morning.

I've got Corsair water cooling (h100i v2) and an i7-7700k. Sounds like a jet engine when I run the Witcher 3 (rpm on the Corsair jumps to 2800, and pump is at 2500, red warning light pings on from doing something simple like starting Photoshop even).

Although, now that I think of it, if I recall correctly I was exploring loud fan noise and trying to determine which fan was causing it with physical inspection inside the case which is when I bumped and broke the GPU blade. So I must have noticed something sinister on Monday night, but on Tuesday it became unbearably loud and unstable.

Any ideas? Really appreciate your help...

now that is interesting... maybe when I installed the monster size card I bumped it? I don't recall doing that, but will check it out when I get home! To answer your question, CPU temps are around 35 at idle, and the Corsair sits at 0rpm when on Quiet mode until randomly spinning up to 1300rpm for no reason I can see (still idle). When I do something like open Photoshop, load probably peaks at 10% (if that) and the CPU temp can reach 60 or 70 in an instant - but only for an instant - Corsair rpms go up to 2800, then back down. Also, three of my four MOBO temps are in the mid-30s, but one (Temp #4) is consistently higher in the 40s or 50s at idle.
