I'm super confused why i get the fps i do.
for csgo i get 140fps on high settings,
on rust i get 50 on low settings
on arma i get 50 - i think that's normal?
and on every game i get lag spikes
despite my efforts of everything from
turning setting to low - doesn't even change the fps at all to resetting my PC several times

tried without it with same results

Solution
AM3+ has been a bad choice for a few years now and since Ryzen has released is pretty much obsolete. Even the FX8350 is outperformed by a low end Pentium G4560.

These are three completely different types of games, and therefore the performance of each has nothing to do with the performance of the other. One game is a relatively undemanding esports game, one game is not even finished in development yet, and the other game is known to not be optimized all that well.

Try a couple of third party benchmarks, like 3dmark. This way you can directly compare your CPU/GPU performance to other people running the same setup on the same benchmark at the same settings. If those benchmarks show your performance is where it should be, then your expectations are just too high.

It's true that your CPU at this time is closer to budget level gaming than your 1060. So don't look at other people's 1060 performance with other CPUs and assume you should be getting that.

you have a great gpu with a crappy setup

your cpu is probably the worse amd one for gaming short of a dual core

you are not going to get benchmark numbers from the 1060

idle tell us nothing, post back temps/usage while under full load

Noob question: how do i get full load? run a game?
and what do you mean by short of a dual core when it's an 8 core?
sorry if i sound like a noob, i'm just getting into pcs.
and is the thing the other guy said true? is it being bottlenecked?

yes, play a game

it means it is almost as weak as a dual core for gaming,
it is a 8 core cpu but they are very weak

yes, the cpu is the bottleneck it is holding back the gpu

I'm sorry it has been a long time but what am3+ cpu would you recommend as a strong CPU for my GPU
I'll post the afterburner results soon

nothing is worth the cost really, the best cpu supported is the 8350 but even that is not good enough for a 1060
it is a dead platform dont waste any money on it

time for a upgrade, if you want to stay with amd get a ryzen setup 1500x or 1600

or you can also go intel
