Wireless peripherals losing signal

Hello,

Few months ago I bought wireless keyboard and mouse for my new PC. After a day or I started to lose signal from keyboard to PC from time to time for a few seconds. Naturally I assumed that batteries were almost empty, and bought new Varta recharchable ones, but again after a day it started losing signal. I returned keyboard and mouse to the shop I bought them from, but they argued that there wasn't anything wrong with keyboard.
Few days ago I bought Logitech F710 wireless joypad, and the same thing started happening. It would lose signal for a second, or a fraction of it, enough to mess me up in the games. I have tried using it on my brother's PC and it worked like the charm. Also, I am sitting only one meter or so away from my PC so I don't think it is losing signal because distance.

Did anyone have similar problem with wireless devices?

Sorry if this thread is out of the place, I wasn't sure where to put it.

Solution
According to the datasheet I found your router is only 2.4 GHzl.

Reference:

According to the User Guide (Page 14) you can select a channel from a drop down list.

http://static.tp-link.com/resources/document/TL-WR740N_V4_User_Guide_1910010596.pdf

The router otherwise automatically selects a channel and is thus likely to be drawn to the Joypad.

See what channel is automatically being selected. Maybe monitor for awhile and see if the channel changes.

Then manually select the channel least affected.

Agree: the distance may not be the issue per se but that must be proven or disproven one way or another.

Is the wireless USB transmitter just a "plug" somewhere in the back of your PC?

Try using a USB extension cable to move that USB transmitter up and out from behind the PC.

Take a careful look at the differences between your PC and its' setup versus your brother's PC and setup.

Itemize what is identical and what is different. The good news is that it appears the joypad is working correctly.

The bad news is that you need to apply some very deliberate troubleshooting to narrow down and eliminate possible causes.

Hi Ralston18 and thanks for your post. I have tried changing usb transmitter from the front of my pc (where it is plugged in usually) to the back and vice versa, but the problem still persists.
Our PCs are very different, we don't have any same components. I don't know what components except motherboard could making this issue, mine is MB AM3+ 970 Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P and his is Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 (Socket M2).
Could the problem be that my PC is not 2m away from our wireless router for internet and his PC is further away?

Try the USB extension cable. Get transmitter up and away from the USB port be the port front or back.

And interference of some sort is certainly a possibility. Your PC is in the "bullseye" - his is not. Try moving your PC further away - just for testing purposes.

Your Logitech F710 wireless joypad uses the 2.4 GHz frequency that is also used by wireless networks. (Reference: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/f710-wireless-gamepad.)

Who manages the wireless router?

If intereference is an issue maybe changing the wireless frequency and/or channel may make a difference. Maybe your wireless network would be better served by using the 5.0 GHz frequency.

Continue testing and be very deliberate about what you do and vary only one thing at a time.

Thanks a lot for advising me to use USB extension cable, it helped a lot!
I tested using it with and without cable on the various distances from my PC, and there were no problems using the extension, so I suppose wireless signal from my router is making problems.
I have tp link tl-wr740n router that has set Channel and Chanel Width to Auto. I am not sure how to set frequency to 5 Ghz, because all chanels that I found (1 - 11) are according to Wikipedia around 2.4 Ghz.
