So, recently I thought of upgrading my old dying PC, it is quite old with a core 2 duo, 2 GB of DDR3 RAM (unbranded company), and a GIGABYTE GA - G41MT - S2 motherboard.

So i was searching for a good ram deal around my locality for USED RAM, I finally found one good deal with Two DDR 3 4 GB each RAM for around $38 (trust me, where i live this deal was the best), so it came in 3 days, I checked the RAMs and found out that one was from Kingston and the other from Transcend. both were 1333 MHZ. So was to eager to put them in my rig, well did that both of them in the ram slots perfectly seated and pressed the power button. the CPU cooler fan started spinning up everything seems normal but there was no video out put. so i tried inserting my old original 2 GB ram which was initially in my pc back in it and The PC booted as normal, again i tried all possible combinations including one original and the other from the new ones, but no luck.

Finally, i thought of getting a buzzer thingy you get and inserted it into check if there were any errors. So with one new bought ram only in my rig the buzzer beeped continuously, beep, beep. and with the another new ram there was no beeping at all.

all this is so confusing for me, also from physical standpoint the RAM sticks don't appear to be damaged, just some slight scratching on the pins which is obvious.

Thanks in advance...

Well my original ram too was 1333 MHZ also they are not buffered, and its very unlikely to be dead

well, if you have done tests, to ensure that the mobo isnt the problem. unless you can test the ram sticks in another mobo that you know works. we have to assume that ram sticks are the issue.
there may be another compatibility issue that i'm not thinking of, but i don't think so.
Ram sticks are very much plug and play, they work, are incompatible or they are dead

Then im not sure,
You may need to update your bios perhaps then.
To me it seems that the motherboard when it was released wasn't meant to support 8 GB.

This is getting very theoretical though, unless theirs a memory expert or someone who has come across this issue before i would put this forward to gigabyte themselves to get a confirmed fix/answer.

well I have recently seen a new thread with kinda similar issue, and a guy responded that it maybe due to new RAM's chips, i.e that the older 2 gigabit rams had sixteen chips(that is to say that they had chips on both sides)
however the newer ones are 4 gigabits and only have 8 chips(that is to say that they had chips on only one side), BTW mine 2 GB original ram too had 16 chips.

So do you think, that may be the issue, also the solution to that post was that to increase the voltage to 1.9V, what do you think could be the issue, also thanks for helping so far... cheers !!
