Dell Dimension BIOS messed up after dead CMOS battery.

I keep some old spare Dell Dimension Athlon computers (E521) to perform same-hardware replacement hosting Windows Server 2008 /64 systems used in my home business. Just move drive to replacement E521 and update Windows activation. No down time migrating to different hardware.

But now the CMOS batteries are dead or dying and there are BIOS problems during power-on.

I think you cannot recover BIOS in Dell Dimension platform systems

In the above link in FAQ section refer the first question for your system compatibility for bios recovery.
First thing that I would be trying is getting a new CMOS battery just like the old one and replacing it.

Have you replaced the battery and are still having issues? If so, you can clear the CMOS (BIOS) manually, here is your service manual, it has a section on how to do that: http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-e521_service%20manual_en-us.pdf
