Hey everyone,

So, let me go over what happened. I intsalled a new SSD, formatted it as a new drive in Windows 7. 2 Days later, everything is dandy and I decide to create a Ubuntu VM on new SSD. While I'm installing Ubuntu inside VM (Virtual Box), I started playing Overwatch. Now, as I'm playing overwatch I get random freezes, which I ignore because I figure SSD's/CPU Is under stress from installing Ubuntu. So within 15 min of playing OW, my PC crashes and reboots.

From then on, any black or darker part of my screen has red, horizontal lines/dots that flicker and move. In device manager, my GTX 1070 has Code 43 error: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

I have tried different display port, HDMI & HDMI on a different monitor, all with same issue. I tried uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I have also tried re-seating the graphics card in the same PCI slot, worried I might have messed something up while installed SSD 2 days back. I have also unplugged the new SSD.

When I get home, I will try putting graphics card in another PCI slot.

I fear my graphics card has fried, but it seems unlikely just from playing OW while installing OS in VM. Graphics card and rest of build is only about 5 months old.

Another guess is that its all driver related, Ubuntu OS did something strange while installing, especially because I noticed some files from VM were being installing in my C drive and others in D.

Anyway, thats all the things I have tried, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It sure sounds like the card is dead. Have you tried the other slot yet? Or even better, in a different pc?
Did you perhaps accidentally touch the card (ungrounded) when installing the ssd?
