CPU running hot, but is it still ok?

Only when gaming, but cpu gets in the high 90Cs(97C is the max I've seen). Would this still be considered stable, or should I lower it a bit? By a bit, I meant the voltages. 3570k @ 4.5 - it was done with asus oc tuning software. I've read that auto tuners tend to use more voltage than is necessary, but if I don't need to change it, then that's that.

You shouldnt use any auto tune when overclocking, do it right way or dont overclock at all.
Put everything to stock/default and check your temperature again. What case do u use? Case fans? CPU cooler? What temp measure software do u use?
If the only thing u wanna know is it safe, i tell u one thing, if u have money for a new CPU, dont bother then.

Never use Auto tune!
Here is the easiest way to overclock.
In the BIOS, set your CPU voltage to 1.3 volts, and your CPU multiplier to 40. If it starts up OK, use your computer for a day, play some games, check it is reliable etc. If it works well, the next day increase CPU multiplier to 41 and try again. Keep raising it day by day until your computer becomes unreliable or crashes. When it happens, reduce it to the previous days level and you are golden.

Is that manual mode, or offset for the 1.3?
Thing is, I've been running that oc for a few years, but haven't really pushed it until recently; library expanded when I got a 1080ti. The measurements were taken with msi afterburner.
Also, is 80C the max safe temp for an oc?

You can run a CPU up to 100°C. However I get nervous if it goes over 75°C. IMHO not worth it to push a CPU to high temperatures for a few % more speed.
Fixed 1.3V voltage is by far the easiest. Best to do all your experiments with overclocking using fixed volts,
Once you have sorted your overclock speed, you can then tweak your offset voltage so that when your CPU is running at full speed, the voltage is 1.3V.. install CPU-Z to see what voltage and speed your CPU is actually running at.

Ok, so if it's at 4.5ghz on 1.4V and offset mode is (-.500), does that then make it 1.35? Or if 1.3V on offset mode(+.500), then 1.4V?

That can't be right, are you sure you didn't mix up with gpu temps? Because my cpu would be sitting in the 90C range for over an hour of gaming without shutting off.

You misread 4.5ghz.
It's about time to replace the thermal paste anyways(may of last year). I'll go through it a step at a time then.
