I'm not sure if i got the right section in the forums for this but here goes,

I've had a problem that's been driving me nuts on and off for quite a while now. My computer doesn't seem to like my wireless adapter. This tends to happen after major updates, and i've band-aided the problem before, but it was long enough ago that i can't seem to figure out how to do it again.

The wireless adapter repeatedly disconnects/connects over and over again (playing the sound when a usb device is disconnected). If left alone it would continue to do this indefinitely. The only way i've found to temporarily stop it is by using USBDeview and continually using the uninstall option until i happen to time it right and it uninstalls while it's briefly registered by my computer. This would only last for a little while though and it will start up again.

I use an ethernet cable for my desktop so i don't really care about having wireless. My main questions are if there is any way to:

a) force my computer to stop trying to reinstall this device.
or
b) actually physically remove this wireless adapter from my computer (it isn't a usb adapter so I have no idea even where it's located, let alone how I would remove it)

I'm running windows 10
edit: the wireless adapter is ralink, 802.11bgn 1t1r wireless adapter

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Try disabling it in Windows 10.
1. Right click on start and select the device mananger.
2. In the device manager, expand the Network adapters sections.
3. There should be 2 listed. one is the ethernet adaptor. Leave this alone. The other is the wireless adapter.
4. Right click on the wireless adapter and select disable. This will turn it off.
