flame coming out of NZXT Noctis 450

hey guys

as the title says

turned on my pc and my case went on fire (not a big fire) some sparks / flash coming out of the back of my case so i turned it off from the power

waited couple of mins and opened the case and saw

and a more zoomed version

turns out that the led chip for the NZXT Noctis 450 blew up for no reason i had it running for months now

so after couple of hours i was brave enough to turn on the pc with the burned chip installed every thing seems to be working fine execpt the bottom case leds

even the power supply cover led seems to be working which is connected to the same burned chip and and the mobo io led seems to be working also which is also connected to the same burned chip

i was wondering is there anyway i can replace that led chip or buy new one
i tried searching ebay/amazon with no luck

and is it safe to use the pc with the burned chip currently installed ?

The completely disconnect however that LED thing gets its power.
    Live without the fancy lights.

    Something caused that to burn.
It might have been that particular part, or something else in the powerchain delivered too much voltage.
I wouldn't trust it in the least.

  4. wouldn't it be possible for me to find a replacement for it?

even if its not the same part but something similar that will enable me to turn on the bottom case leds

What USAFRet said. Don't risk damaging other components, or a potential fire. Good thing you were home.

You should still contact NZXT about this. Who knows, there may be many others who have had the same happen to them. Make them aware of it, at least.

If you do contact NZXT, Keep us updated.

    Best of luck.

Me personally....there is no possible way I would continue to use that technology.
    Replacement part or whatever.

    Not a chance.

  7. i guess i will remove that led chip then since i have been using it for at-least 5 hours now i thought it would be fine to keep it connected since 50% of the leds that are connected to it seems to be working and i will try contacting nzxt

i have no idea how its still working even tho its burned

  8. The culprit can also be the device that the board was supplying power to, that drew too much amperage. The replacement board could self-destruct in an equally spectacular fashion.

What you have is a symptom, not a cause. Until you determine the cause, you have no way of knowing if it will happen again if you simply replace the obviously defective part.

  9. is it me or that pcb looks like its screwed on directly to the case? is there a protective film between case and board ? or a stand off post ? doesn't seem clear on that picture...

  11. so it is a "part" of the case, you could contact them and order just the board again and replace it.
looking at the manual : https://sta3-nzxtcorporation.netdna-ssl.com/uploads/download/attachment/89/Noctis-450-manual-multi-language-1.pdf
look at bottom of page 12 you will find the part, maybe a quick call would get you another ..can't be a 200$ part can it now.
