Hello,

Have a desktop PC I built as my flight simulator machine. Initial build included one Samsung 850 Pro SSD (550GB), Samsung 850 Pro SSD (250GB), and a WD 1TB HDD. The 850 Pro 500GB has the OS and the 250GB is a data drive. Well, the 250GB got full, so I bought another 850 EVO 500GB to replace it. Since installing the new 850 EVO, I've been getting random "Reboot and Select proper Boot device errors. I say random in the sense that 1 out of 10 times I can turn on the pc and it will boot without error. All other times I would have to unplug and plug different sata or power cables and reboot to get it boot up to windows. Never once experienced this before adding the new SSD drive. Once it's booted Samsung Magician shows all drives healthy with latest firmware. Performance on all drive are great. Any suggestions?

Haven't had time to disable all drives except boot drive yet, but I did double checked the boot order in the BIOS. It's listed as the first boot device. I did not get any errors when it booted up. But, it's does this randomly.

Here is something else I notice. When I boot and get the error message, if I reboot into BIOS and select "save and restart" without actually making any changes or opening the case. It will then boot into windows without error. Done this on several occasions. And it works. BIOS is up to date, and boot order is correct. Does this appear to be software or hardware related?

Not sure if I can help in terms of BIOS and SSD, but I to received "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device Error".

It happend after defragging so maybe a file was moved and was not recognized? My other thread has not received a fix/solution regarding why this happend and what I can do so will watch this thread.

Don't disable then, unplug them. Make sure no drive has an issue or has system files on it.
