I just built my first computer and when i pressed the power button it didn't turn on, i did a visual inspection and everything was plugged in correctly so i removed everything did a fresh install and still nothing, i tested the psu with included tester and all case fans plus water cooling unit turned on, i took out gpu and left one ram to test and still nothing, i tryed to trip the power on, on the motherboard and still nothing. Im at a loss please help me.

Hardware being used
Case-Nighthawk 117
Motherboard-Asus Z170-k
CPU-i7-7700k
RAM-Corsair Dominator Platinum
GPU-evga 1080 ftw2
PSU-evga 650w g3 and a evga 1000w g3 (ordered 2 on accident)

Solution
(I'm no expert) but I think the CPU and Motherboard may not be compatible. I thought for a 7th generation cpu the motherboard needed to have a 2 in it. i.e. Z270-k

Z170 is for a 6th generation cpu I think.

As I say I am no expert so maybe if someone could confirm that.

I put up your parts list on pcpartpicker here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Fbrmpb

First off, since this is your first computer, I hope you got a CPU cooler since according to PcPartPicker: "Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor does not include a stock CPU cooler. Adding a CPU Cooler to your part list is recommended." I've been running AMD so I don't know if this is true but I just wanted to put this info out there.

From the looks of it, if it tried to post, then you probably have BIOS issues. If it's not even turning on, then you either don't have your case plugged into the mobo correctly or either the pins on your mobo are broken or your case isn't working properly.

Hopefully it's not plugged in correctly If it's not even turning on but if your able to access the BIOS screen, get on another computer and get the proper BIOS uploaded to a flashdrive and update your BIOS because according to PcPartPicker "Some Intel Z170 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." I hope the second part of that quote isn't the case.

If it is turning on but not posting, I really don't know other than giving the above information a try.

I'm assuming a lot here since there isn't a lot of info on this post so I'm trying to cover the basics. Good luck!
First builds are always a challenge.

Unless someone says otherwise, you may have gotten a bricked mobo out of the package. Some portions of the mobo may still be working but they do mass produce these so there's a chance something messed up.
