Alien Ware X51 R2, what does boot manager do in Windows 10?

I recently updated my Alien Ware X51 R2 from bios A10 to A12, now I have the grldr error. However, when I F12 to the boot up, its in Legacy mode, secure off. the correct HDD is listed first. To get back into windows and boot up, I have to select UEFI windows boot manager.

Should I change the boot default from Legacy to UEFI mode, secure off, to keep the legacy rom as the warning says? What will it do as in, will it reformat my drive and lose all my files? Afraid to make the leap...

It sounds like you were using UEFI boot and the BIOS reset it to legacy. Try setting it back to UEFI to see if that fixes the issue.

That is what happened and changing it to UEFI did fix my problem! The warning about partitioning had me on hold as I think partitioning as reformatting which I assume does not mean the same thing.
