I currently have a GTX1070 with an i5 6600k and 16gb ram and was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to a GTX1080 or get a better monitor. My monitor is the Acer G277HU 1440p 60hz and although I love this monitor I feel I am not getting the full usage from my 1070 due to the 60hz cap. I have not got enough spare cash for both a monitor and graphics card upgrade so what do you guys feel will be more beneficial in the long run.

I play mainly action/adventure games such as Battlefield/Overwatch, Witcher 3, Tomb raider etc

Does anybody run a 1080p monitor with a 1070 for the high frame rates?

Any help will be appreciated as I just cannot decide lol.

I use my 1070 with 2 monitors. One 1080p/60Hz and one 1080p/144Hz. It's excellent in both. For 1440p a 1070 is very good but a 1080 or a 1080Ti is excellent. 1070 can't handle 1440p/120Hz or 144Hz without lowering settings in the game. So, if you absolutely want to upgrade you have to do both or just the monitor and lower settings.

Do u think a1070 would handle a 3 monitor setup at 1080p for gaming at decent frame rates as that is another thing I have been looking at. Would all three have to be gsync or just the centre one?

Thanks so much for taking the time to help, im leaning towards getting a gtx1080, selling the 1070 and saving for a better monitor in time. I love 1440p and was totally blown away the first time I switched from 1080p but I do miss the high frame rates, things just looked smoother
