what's the best GPU i can get for my PC without bottlenecking?

i want to play on games at 2560 x 1440 resolution. Anyone who can help me choice the best option without bottlenecking?

CPU: i7 - 980X
RAM: 16Gb
MoBo: Asus Rampage III Extreme
GPU: Asus GTX680
PSU: 1200 Watt

Minimum card to play 60fps in most games at 1440p is the GTX 1070. With your processor though, it would bottleneck a bit. It would be better if you upgraded your whole system but I wouldnt get a 1060 or a 970. Bad choices for 1440p.

Your CPU is around 7 years old now, and you're really not going to get a better CPU for that socket. So for 2k gaming, I would set up with an i5 6600, a 1060 or 970 depending on price/availability, and a new mobo.

Hard to recommend something without a budget though.
