radeon hd 7970 + molex to 8 pin?

purchasing a radeon hd 7970 for btc mining and this second hand psu i bought only has 1 pcie power cable and i need two. im
deciding if i should ditch this psu to get one with two connectors or use one of those 2 molex connectors to an 8 pin connector? i did this with an r9 fury and a stable power supply and it ended up killing the graphics card.

Get a good quality psu with the proper connections. Lack of proper connections usually indicates the psu is not up to the task of powering the card properly.

its the worlds best psu that doesnt have a name, just asking if its worth going in the same route that i went in with the fury (i also overclocked it to 1300mhz on the core so thats probably why it blew up.)

You can use an use the adapter, perhaps a Surge protector would help a little. However if you are sure the power supply burned out your last GPU why wouldn't it do so to this one? It is crazy to do the same thing the same way and expect a different result.

oh no my last psu was a corsair hx650, so it was definitely the molex connector.
