I am currently a junior in high school, and am into gaming.... alot. I am also very interested in programming and learning new coding languages. My question is, what should i get, a 1800x that i could keep for college and will compile my code fast and game pretty well, or a 7700k that crushes gaming while lacking in the MC processing that compilers use?

Solution
Up to you, if you are going to be gaming more than 85% of time I would go with the I7 7700k. If you are going to mainly program I would go other way, but the i7 can handle it too. That's why I say if gaming is the majority of the use go i7.

for programming, i would recommend just the 1700x since it isnt clocked that much lower than the 1800x and still offers the wraith max.
also recommend pairing it with some 3200mhz gskill flare x memory since memory speed is relevent due to infintiy fabric and etc..
for gaming..still recommending the 1700x due to the cpu perfoming much better from release because of all the microcode updates and optimization.

ok I just went through about 25 benchmarks that has been made in the past month and didn't find one with ryzen winning. I'm not one of them people that wouldn't admit. It's just fact. You pulled the only benchmark out of 1000s that goes team red on gaming.
