Alright, I've got another one for you guys.

I finally got my IX Formula into bios after having no video. I installed all my harddrives and enabled raid.

The problem is it detects all my harddrives but it won't boot to my boot drive. I have 2 SSDs in raid 0 for OS and 3 HDDs for storage. If I go to the Intel Rapid Storage settings in advanced bios it shows my OS Raid volume. If I select it, it even says Raid0, bootable: yes, 465.8GB. what's weird is if I click on each ssd in the raid it says they are ahci controller type with sata interface. If I go to the boot menu, it says there are no bootable devices.

This bios sucks so I'm not sure what I'm missing. I can't even access the Intel utility with Ctrl+I on boot.

The first time I changed to an AM4 B350 board, the re-activation worked, but when I change the board again to an X370 it didnt, I used the online windows 10 help service live chat thing, just had to prove that id recently changed the board, so showed them the receipt online, took about 20 mins with him dialled into my...

Trouble with these newer boards is they have made configuring RAID even more difficult, so there is 2 types of RAID versions you can set up now, one is UEFI RAID and the other is Legacy RAID.

If youve recently changed your motherboard, you will have to break your array and re-build it, and re-install everything.

If you choose to setup UEFI RAID, goto advanced menu and set PCH storage to RAID mode, now goto boot menu and disable CSM support, save and exit the bios and then reboot back into the bios again, the RAID configuration menu will then appear as a new option in the bios, its in Advanced - Intel Rapid Storage Utility, set your RAID up in this menu, ie stripe size, drives to use, etc etc (there is no Control+I option at boot).

The OS you install must support UEFI booting if you choose this option, such as Windows 10 for instance.

If you choose to setup Legacy RAID, goto advanced menu and set PCH storage to RAID mode, now goto boot menu and enable CSM support, save and exit the bios, hit Control+I after the post menu or Logo Screen to enter the raid config menu.

When I try legacy raid I still can't use Ctrl+I. I try pressing it many times, but it always just goes into bios. To clarify, my harddrives are from my previous build. So they already have windows 10 on them in raid 0. I am just trying to move these drives to this build. I do not want to reinstall Windows 10 because I upgraded win 7 for free back when win 10 came out and I don't have any discs anymore nor even a DVD drive.

Mine only does that when it doesnt like something Ive set in the bios.

Also, is there an option to select which OS you are using, select Other OS for Legacy RAID, and Windows 10 WHQL for UEFI RAID.

The fact you upgraded from windows 7 to Windows 10 doesnt matter, your license is stored digitally, you can just re-activate, ive had to do the same, if it doesnt activate straight away, use the troubleshooter, and select the options (I have made a hardware change) then follow the instructions, you can make a bootable USB stick and put windows 10 on it, I would say it doesnt like your old RAID config and you need to break it and start again.

for now, unplug your other drives from the sata ports and just work with the 2 SSDs that you want to build the RAID on, once the RAID is up and running, you can plug them back in again.

Just to close this out, I booted to my year old backup and windows deactivated itself because of the hardware change. I used the activation troubleshooter and ended up calling Microsoft. Since I don't have my windows 7 keys anymore and I couldn't pull them from the registry I had to start fresh. I guess I won't be raiding again if this is what happens every time you get a new motherboard, I'll just get a larger ssd.
