I've attached 2 USB 3.0 hard disk drives (4TB and 1TB) to a Orico U3HV-SI docking station which is attached to my Verizon FIOS router via ethernet cable. I cannot see the drives on either my Windows 7 or 10 systems Is there something additional I have to do to make these drives visible to my windows systems?

Solution
You can't because it's just a docking station and not an actual computer.

Is there a computer connected to the docking station?

If you attach the drives to one of the computers, you could share them on the network. Or you need a router with USB 3.0 connectors built in for easy NAS setup.

It doesnt work that way.

The device provides all those ports to a computer via USB 3.0

It does not even have the ability to get an ip address to establish a network connection, let alone able to do anything with the hard drives.

If your router does not have USB ports on it then you need to plug the drives into a computer, its that simple.

Thanks.. I didn't think of that..that makes sense.. I just ordered a cheap router with a usb 3.0 port, "ASUS RT-ACRH13". I need this to attach to my 'real' router which is a Verizon Fios which, for reasons only known by them, has it's usb ports disabled.

Uh, that's gonna be troubling if you do that. You'll have to configure that "cheap" router you bought to work properly in a 2 router setup (assuming you even can) otherwise your entire network is going to #$%^ itself.

Thanks for the warning.. I am aware that I'll have to convert the new router to an access point.
