@Arich5
yes his computer is an OptiPlex 755 from dell as he describes it.
@Arslan_24
your Motherboard is known as the Dell Optiplex 755 Motherboard GM819
upgrading to the Q9xxx can be tricky and with little information, not to mention contradictory.
I have found this tidbit on :
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19537919
Officially, (according to the Dell Technical Guide Book for the Optiplex GX 755) the CPU is Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Processor (2.66GHz, 8MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB, VT) 8GB of DDR2-800 (PC6400) non-ECC memory
I also found this list of CPUs and RAM that was posted by Kisianik on Tom's Hardware forum. It shows some faster CPUs and RAM speed (in Mini Tower Only). This is the list of processors which will work in your Optiplex
N652J 3.00GHz Yorkfield Quad Core Q9650, 12MB
F886J 2.83GHz Yorkfield Quad Core Q9550 12MB, 1333FSB, E0
N650J 2.66GHz Yorkfield Quad Core Q9400, 6MB, 1333FSB, R0
Those 3 above were validated by Dell engineers, and below the rest of general processors from another list.
I looked into the chipset of the 0gm819 motherboard and its Intel Q35 Express and that chipset supports the previous statement on this page
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/Q35_Express.html showing the Q9550 and Q9650 should be compatible CPUs for the chipset.
I cannot find PROOF someone actually done this. so your a little on your own, make sure you have a good power supply on that unit. (look at the label it would need to be at least 300w and likely a motherboard bios to latest version will also be needed just to make sure.
