I am unable to connect to my wifi on this Windows XP Toshiba i get this "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters" message when putting in my wifi password, i have tried every combination of settings and found a 40bits hexadecimal phrase converter thing online and nothing works and if some patch or update is needed how can i get it when i can not connect the laptop to the internet to download it, please help!

Your computer is old enough that it doesn't support newer encryption. You would have to compromise your network security and set the encryption to WEP. Then your old computer could work. Changing your wireless security to WEP is not recommended because it is easily broken.
