This has never happend before. The past 2-3 weeks I have been defragging my PC at night (not every night) and then usually stop it in the morning to carry on using my PC (after I have let it rest a bit).

Last night I did the same, let it defrag then when I woke up this morning to check it..the screen had somehow 'frozen'. I could move the mouse on screen but I could not click any software's. I pressed different keys, tried to go to task manager (ctrl+alt+delete same time) nothing.
Then all of a sudden the screen went black and I became really really scared. The message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device" appeared. I saw a video that said to press ctrl, alt, delete, not at the same time but in a motion from left to right. Then the video explained about the bios coming up and carrying on steps from there. I was pressing f8 but bios was not coming up, maybe I should have pressed it earlier? My PC just restarted normally and now it is working thank God.
As soon as my PC went to the mains screen, I inserted my NetGear router and it was not connecting. The blue wifi light on the router (I think its called) flashed blue for a few seconds then did not turn on. I moved it to different ports on my PC (front and back) but nothing. I blew it a few times, both ports and router and then it randomly worked. This happend a few times before (past few week). Does that mean its my HDD that is showing signs of giving way?

-Why on earth has this happened all of a sudden!?
-Is my HDD becoming corrupt? (research has told me this might be the case)
-Do I need to backup my whole HDD as that is something I have never done. And how do I do it? Will it take a day to transfer work from PC to another HDD? (Advice on this would be great)!

Using windows scan has not detected anything wrong

PC Specs:

-1.81 TB on my harddrive (I always thought it was 2TB but ye)
-Windows 10
-GTX 760
-System Manafacturer MSI, I believe the model is MS-7808
-Intel Core i5-3470
-8GB RAM

What do I do!? I dont want to lost all my work and files etc, pls help :( I am too scared to switch off my PC or put it on sleep as this might happen again, even though my PC was on before it went to the black screen with the message.

Hi, a video mentioned that I should only run the diagnostic software after I have backed up my files. I have contacted SeaGate so will wait to see what they say.

Do you think they will be able to fix the issue or if I use the RMA will they give me a new one or just try repair it? Not sure what the warranty is like as I have had this PC since 2014.

Also for backing up, are there specific things I should do or a good video to show backing up? I presume I should buy either a 1TB or 2TB harddrive and backup on there. Also is it just a drag and drop of files? Never done this before so a little skeptical and worried

Also, surely I can still use my PC right? I should probably not defrag anymore.

Thank you
