I've recently filled up my 2-bay Synology NAS (DS 215j) containing of a 1TB and 3TB drive running in JBOD. The 3TB drive currently in my NAS was an upgrade to the previous 1TB drive (was also running in JBOD) and for me to safely replace the hard drive, I had to backup everything, swap out the drive and then move the files back to the NAS.
As I must admit, that process is far too tedious for me to do again so I've decide that I'm going to get a 4-Bay NAS. However, I do not know what should I do with my current one once I've received the new one.
Here are 2 options I've considered (other options welcome):

Keep current NAS to use as monthly backup
