This whole thing is a little convoluted but I am just hoping someone has an answer on how to fix it.

A while ago I got a 580. I normally run linux and it was nice to see that I could finally use AMDGPU as my driver stack after waiting so many years. My upgrade was from a 370, and the AMD drivers were already installed on windows 7 (and the back of the box and all the notation I find says that the card is supported in 7).

However, when I got a beta key for Quake Champions I excitedly jumped over to install it and a few other things and found that it didn't run. In fact NO games run. When I went to try windows 10 things ran fine until last night where it started doing the same exact thing! No games will start.

Some of the errors I get are like "DirectX experienced an error. Make sure your drivers are up to date!" or "A 3D Graphics card could not be found. Please contact your hardware manufacturer" or, in the case of Age of Empires 2... "Could not initialize draw system: error main.cpp(312)" I imagine if I know what that error actually meant I could fix this whole problem but no one else seems to know what it means.

Now I have reinstalled OS to no avail, I have reset my bios, and that seemed to work on 10, but I need 7 (more on that in a moment), I have reset drivers, reinstalled games..... I'm on a completely fresh install of W7 and have all of my DX packages in here, I don't understand what could be going wrong. I need 7 because I have 1 wireless card that I want to use. I don't have PCIe slots available on my board for another one and all the USB ones I try go to 4.5 up and down and do nothing more than that (whereas the one I want to use has gone to the maxe of my internet connection). I can't use 10 with this wireless card, nor 8/.1, because the systems kernel panic and crash. I'd use a newer system if my wireless card was useable (TP-Link WN751ND).

So, if anyone has any ideas to try I am open to all. Its not a big deal as I am predominantly a linux user but I'd like to play Quake Champions....

Thanks

Edit: Heres a video of what its doing.

Bump.

I don't know what more info to give you guys. I open a game, such as CSGO, it shows nothing. I open Quake Champions and it closes itself as fast as it can. Just please help me this is pissing me off.

A Google of one issue returns https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvotdk7WJwA .

Have you updated DX? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17431

12 only works with 10.

Many initial releases will have bugs. I'd go to the developer's for Quake Champions website/forum page and see what others are saying.

I don't even care about using DX12 I care about getting ANY game to run. Nothing will start correctly, and anything that does start has more involved into it than I can even give a crap about. The only thing that will use DX at all and run is Unigine Valley, and that was a C++ issue. Nothing, as far as I can tell, can even see my 580. But if I put my previous card, a 370 in, everything works like I would expect.

Have you contacted the card's manufacturer? +1-626-854-9338
If I have an issue with my 970 EVGA is only a call away.

haha aside from aero I've done all that.

I'm broke at this point. Windows and its obscurity has killed my wanton to play quake now. I've stopped caring. I'll see if I can upgrade to 10 and have 10 not kernel panic from my wifi card by carrying the driver over from 7, but if that leads to nowhere I'll just sit in linux until I can afford ryzen and a new wireless card. Its only 600 bucks for my platform upgrade so that'll take... Well a while. At least quake will be out and less buggy by then.

If an answer pops up in the mean time I'm happy to drop everything and try it. It gives me something to do.

Anything odd when you run DXDIAG?

Nope. DXDiag checked out. There is 0 reason for nothing to want to run other than the driver is just unfinished.

Someone else may have this issue. One question that I haven't seen addressed is contacting Gigabyte. Sure, this has gotten real old and you might just want to let it go for a while. Completely understood. I am a Windows user. I've used Linux before out of necessity and as a gamer I had to have Wine and another program I can't recall. Maybe PlayOnLinux? Idk. Anyways that led me here https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/66skn4/ok_got_into_quake_champions_beta_got_bethesda/ Possible for you to try that route?

Ha! If they can get it running in wine I'll eat my hat.

Yeah. I honestly haven't used windows full on since 2009 but I think I still did somewhat a good job at attacking this? I might contact gigabyte, but at this point its more wort my time to get up onto ryzen, use an mpcie wireless card which are a dime a dozen in my area, and just not have to think about it.

Thanks for your help :3

zSorry about that. Wrong button.

The hat may be red. Okay, that was even worse.

Coffee Lake is soon to be released. The 1600 has taken the i5 down a peg or three in popularity due to its efficiency and power. Intel has responded with making their new i5s 6 core. Might be an option.

I found the problem. Windows 7 drivers might exist for the 580, but with the hardware I have in combo with windows builds I have available only openGL works. I don't know why. Doesn't matter anymore as I have been back on linux since.
