Changing cpu chip

You have a socket 478 motherboard; your upgrade path is extremely limited and it can't support any i5 or i7 processor. Your best upgrade is to buy a new CPU, motherboard and memory if yours isn't DDR3. You may be able to find a modded Xeon, but you have to tell us what motherboard you have.
