Hi Friends,

My PC Specs are as below:
APU 10-6800k
8 gb RAM
GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Dedicated Graphic Card.

Now My Question is that I can Buy Core i5 2nd Generation at just 9000 INR. Though I Don't have to pay anything extra because I am going to sell my amd at that price.
My Question is it worth buying or I am good with Amd?

Thanks in advance...

i5 2nd gen is better but 9000?? Dude thats very overpriced. Just buy a new g4560 which easily outperforms i5 2nd gen and your current apu and costs about 5300 INR.
G4560+b250m mobo+8gb ddr4 ~=15000INR. It may sound costly, but you can easily cover 7000-8000 INR by selling your current CPU+MOBO+RAM.

i5 + Motherboard is 9000/-
I have 8gb ddr3 ram so I don't have to change the ram.

And what you are suggesting is I think dual core.

I was using apu for gaming for last 3 years. Not I bought GTX 1050ti 4GB. So Now I am thinking of changing Board Processor.

Thanks for the reply.

G4560 is definitely a dual core, but it has 4 threads which means it can act like a quad core. Also it easily beats old gen CPUs by a big margin in gaming.

Since you are getting both i5 and mobo for 9000, its a sweet deal. Happy gaming.

seriously 9000. I bought a used one 2 months back at rs 6000 and now can be easily bought at rs 5500. But if you are getting a new pc then get the pentium g4560. Only get that i5 but only used from ebay if you have ddr3 ram sticks already or you will need ddr4 for g4560.

I am getting new at 9000/- with one year warranty, not used...

@srimasis
Having HT does not make it the same with 2 extra cores. If that was the case, then a dual core HT 4GHz i3 CPU would have the same performance with a quad core 4GHz i5 which clearly the i5 outperforms in almost every way the i3 (same gens ofcourse).

I am not saying pentium g4560 would beat a skylake or kabylake i5, but it will definitely outperform a 2nd gen i5.

Got any benchmarks?

I expect it would be quicker in single/dual thread tasks, but more highly threaded tasks I would expect the 2nd gen i5 to hold its own.

Actually I just searched and found that in 80% of 2nd gen i5 is better than G4560. So, no it's not better. Also keep in mind that a good OC'd 2500k is only 8-15% slower than an OCd 6600k. That means that since 2nd gen, Intel hasn't improved all that much the performance.
Sure, cheaper price, new technologies, support for ddr4 and some other goodies, make a G4560 a very nice choice but performance wise 2nd gen i5 is a bit better.

@Robcrezz @dotas1 Hmm now I am kinda divided over the results. This article says G4560 is 5% slower than i5 2500k in games(http://www.tweaktown.com/news/55917/pentium-g4560-costs-64-fights-core-i5-2500k-270/index.html). I think G4560 loses to i5 2500k while being on par with non k i5 cpus. In short G4560=i5 2400.
i5 2400 vs G4560 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMuIpwyJGY0)
i5 2400 vs G4560 GTA V only (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaWvaeN3TeM)
In the first video G4560 loses in GTA V but wins in the second benchmark video.

That performance gain can be attributed to the DDR3 vs DDR4 as well. Not just CPU it self. I agree that g4560 is an excellent CPU and very cheap considering it's performance but I can't see it competing properly in other programs that require higher core count.

I already purchased GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Dedicated Graphic Card. Now I am facing another problem. My PC Crashes randomly. Not only when I am playing games. it crashes anytime. So I have to change motherboard + Processor.
