I have an i5 3740 Ivy Bridge and 4GB(2x2) 1600 Gskill Ripjaws X DDR3.
I bought an ECS H61H2-M7 1155 mobo yesterday and tested the procie and ram at the store and everything was okay.
Went back home, connected everthing to the case. procie and Ram being detected by mobo. But when I tried to install Windows 7 on my freshly formatted HDD, it goes to the Windows 7 script but on the logo it freezes up and goes to BSOD. I tried a different HDD, BSOD. Replaced ram sticks with 16GB(2x8) 1600 Kingston Hyper X DDR3, just used 1 stick(same with Gskill) still BSOD. Cleared CMOS, set mobo to default settings and tried underclocking the ram to 1333, 1066(both single and dual sticks for both Gskill and Kingston) still BSOD. I've checked the bios and it is updated to the latest one. I'm tired and I think I done everything that I can think off. Maybe somebody can help me. Can the prob be the mobo or the ram(which I doubt, coz all the ram sticks works on another computer, same with the HDDs). Help :(

Hello... it is never safe to "Assume" anything B D ...but your are doing the right tests and Logic to "narrow" the hardware down in such a problem.

Windows 7 install APP will have the option to install a driver, as one of the on-screen options before starting the OS install.
Hello... with Win 7 you need to PRE-install the AHCI hardware driver IF your MB SATA input in the BIO's is set for AHCI... if you set it for IDE (save&exit) you won't need a driver to install WIN7... you can change it back later with the proper procedure.

One of these would be the PRE-install drivers if you want to go that route... you might have more than one brand of SATA hardware/chip on the MB... and depending on the SATA port you use... http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_DOWNLOAD.aspx?DetailID=1273&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=24&LanID=0

Thanks man...but I'm not really sure how to do that, I mean install the drivers without windows installed because I can't install Windows 7, BSOD just before the Windows logo shows up. :(
Right now my system is at the shop, the technician replaced mobo with a new one, but still the same thing. He said to leave it overnight. Then will call me tomorrow if he fixes it. Hopefully. Do you think there's any chance that the procie is bad?

Update: Tried 2 more mobos that supports 3rd gen, still the same. Tried different i5 and i3 3rd gen procies and everything was okei.
It's safe to assume now that the procie is shot.

Posting for people who have the same issue in the future.
