Hi I have a 3-4 year old meta box laptop with dual nvidia gtx780m 32gb ram and an i74900mq 2.8ghz running.
Recently I've noticed that my god has been quite low for games I normally would have good fps and game settings don't seem to effect the fps it runs at. Most of the time on games like Cato where I'm expecting 200+ I'm sitting at under 100fps or games like player unknown battlegrounds I sit between as low as 1 and at peaks 30 during gameplay. I have mates who have systems with lower specs playing these games at 60+ fps.

I've completely wiped my hard drives and reinstalled windows everything the laptop sits ontology of cooling fan regardless of what I'm doing so as to eliminate any heating issues.

Why is the computer not running at its potential? And how do I rectify this issue?

Because it's hard to fit a good cooling solution inside of a small laptop. Not to mention the Haswell i7 is known to get a tad toasty and those duel gpu's aren't helping it cool itself off either. I bet some dust has built up inside of your laptop effecting its ability to cool it self as well. You can clean it with some compressed air. I also came across a little jewel that really helps with the removal of heat called opolar laptop fan cooler, it literally sucks the heat from the vent, look it up, it made a 10C difference for my laptop and it not longer gets hot to the touch!

And from my experience with a cooling mat it really makes little difference. As long as you are sitting your comp on a solid surface. I mean, mine doesn't have any kind of a air intake or exhaust on the bottom for the CPU or gpu, does yours? The opolar exhaust fan along with the mat, I bet your temps won't hit 90 any more.

It has 3 fans at bottom plus I added an external to pump more air and still hit 90-100 but only on the main gpu, I did a bit more digging and found although I had sli enabled I needed to change to single monitor and higher power performance to engage the second card, though the main card still runs at a higher temp all the time, so I'm redoing the thermal paste and cleaning the system tomorrow to see if that assists
