CPU for Gaming and Streaming

Solution
For gaming, I'd choose the i7 7700K because you don't really need a very powerful CPU unless you're using SLI 1080s or something similar to that, but this CPU won't be a bottleneck to about 99% of consumer or enthusiast grade cards out there.

I suggest you go with a R5 1600/ R7 1700 to get good gaming performance and awesome performance for streaming and productivity. If however it has to be between the 7700k and 6800k, that depends. If you do mostly gaming, 7700k. Mostly stream and do productivity, then go with 6800k.

The problem with the 7700k is that yes it's amazing for gaming, even beating ryzen. It's the best gaming cpu you can buy today. However, the problem is, it would be not such a good contender for streaming. It all depends on what he does more of. Gaming= i7 7700k. Streaming= r5 1600, r7 1700, or 6800k. Streaming needs those extra cores that the 7700k lacks.

Furthermore, I can provide a better answer for him specifically if he provides information such as gpu, and monitor res./refresh rate.
