So im building a new system, and yes I know that this question has probably been answered but I would like a direct answer based on my pc that I building. I have picked out 2 systems.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8M6PD8 RYZEN

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/G2cF9W INTEL

So my main purpose is to game at 1440p, Edit 1440p-4k videos, Photoshop, and do my college work. My goal is to make the system last at least 5 years. I also want to keep the PC looking nice. I am an overclocker which is why I have included the Corsair H100I. I have excluded any hard drives in both builds because I already own an Intel ssd with WD blue 2tb hard drives. Please feel free to make any changes to the system.

The main reason for this post is because I have never had any experience with an Intel based system, only AMD FX series. That is why i am asking for help. So I can hear from both sides Ryzen Vs Intel.

Solution
R5-1600.

While the Intel is faster per core, it's still a 4C/4T CPU. The R5-1600 is a 6C/12T CPU (six physical cores, with SMT aka hyperthreading for each core). HT/SMT can in theory improve a very well threaded application by as much as 30%.

*Also, at 1440p the differences for gaming diminish. It's the 1080p results where Intel i7-7700K for example smokes Ryzen but at 1440p there's usually a GPU, not CPU bottleneck.

I recommend 3200MHz DDR4 memory that has been validated to work for Ryzen.

**Nice builds. No issues, though you wouldn't have really needed 3200MHz for the Intel setup. Ryzen benefits from the faster memory.

For 1440p gaming Intel's slight lead disappears in gaming and the 1600 will beat the brakes off the 6600k in editing vidoes. I'd suggest 3200 speed gskill tridents for the memory (most likely to have Samsung bdie chips). That Nex power supply is junk. Switch to a g2 g3 or gq if you want to stick with EVGA. Anything gold by seasonic or xfx would also work

Liquid cooling: I agree that it's not worth it. In fact, the R5-1600 comes with a cooler. I suggest you use it first to see how that works out for you. I've been reading that you can benefit from a better cooler than stock but that gets you maybe another 100MHz, 200MHz at most (i.e. 4.1GHz vs 3.9GHz).

Also, likely some UEFI/BIOS updates coming that may affect OC stability. Not saying don't go liquid, just that I'd build it first with stock to see how it's working out. Liquid coolers have drawbacks too such as potential pump noise, reliability (and the added cost).

Thanks for the response, could i stick to the Corsair 3200 (2x8) Vengeance LPX? I know its sounds stupid but I like the design that Corsair gives.

So basically the GTX1080 makes more sense than the GTX1070 in terms of value... weird.

Based on what everyone else is saying, I agree with you that liquid cooling might be over kill haha, but I think a 1080 would be too. I don't think i will ever enter the world of 4k gaming.

The only problem I have is I do not like the way air coolers look. I think having the tubing and such in a pc takes the look to a new level? would the 1080 be worth it within my situation? Because what ive seen the 1080 really is overkill even for the unless I would be gaming at 1440p

The original plan, which was the reason why I picked a 370 MOBO is because within the next year or so i was planning on adding a 1070 and completely watercooling the system. With the G1 gaming from Gigabyte, I really prefer the design that ASUS brings with their card. its just my opinion and if im already going to spend 500 on a card, might as well buy one that i am going to be happy with.

The 1080 is made for 1440p greater than 100hz as the 1070 is ideal for 1440p less than 100hz. I wouldn't even say the 1080ti is 4k as it takes a lot for that res. The 1080ti is more a ultra wide 1440p beast. You really need SLI for 4k.
Here is the cooler. I like the 1700's rgb red circle top better but looks fine.

those are way nicer than i thought, plus when i think of it this way i dont need the H100I right away, especially when the 1600 comes with a cooler. I think im going to get the 1080 because i can always get a AOI but not so easy for a graphics card
