I have an H81M-P33 motherboard with a G3258 cpu and basically 2x 4gb sticks of this ram:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148544

Today I just noticed it is actually running at 1333mhz rather than 1600mhz and looking at my bios the preset options under "DRAM Frequency" are only AUTO, 800, 1066, 1333, and 1400mhz. I can change "DRAM Timing Mode" from "Auto" to either "Link" or "unlink" which opens up a settings page called "Advanced DRAM Configuration" and oh boy is this thing crowded with a lot of things I'm clueless about.

Here are the different options in there:

I've done cpu and gpu overclocking before but I've never touched the ram. What settings do I put into that alphabet soup to get 1600mhz RAM?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Solution
Try updating to latest version of BIOS, if not already done.

CPU-Z showing 666.5 MHz indicates the memory is running at 1333 MHz.

The memory frequency usually has to be altered (manually) in order for the memory to run at that frequency.

Could try setting DRAM Frequency back to AUTO, and changing Command Rate to 2T in BIOS.

Can't comment on the more advanced memory timings as I've never used them.

The G3258 CPU natively supports up to 1333 MHz memory, so (trying to) run 1600 MHz memory may also require that the CPU be "overclocked" a bit by raising its ratio/frequency multiplier one step and maybe raising the CPU Core voltage a bit as well.
In BIOS with Advanced settings selected/enabled -

Set DRAM Frequency to 1600 MHz (select this option by using mouse cursor or using up/down keyboard arrows; and adjust frequency by either typing in value or by using + and - keys on the keypad).

Select DRAM Timing and under Main Timing Configuration -

leave Command Rate on AUTO for now
select and set t[sub]CL[/sub] to 9
select and set t[sub]RCD[/sub] to 9
select and set t[sub]RP[/sub] to 9
select and set t[sub]RAS[/sub] to 24

Leave other timings on AUTO.

Select DRAM Voltage and set voltage from AUTO to 1.50 V (type in value or use +/- keypads keys).

Save settings in BIOS, EXIT BIOS and reboot.

The problem is that under "DRAM Frequency" the only options are AUTO, 800mhz, 1066mhz, 1333mhz, and 1400mhz. Leaving frequency to auto and putting in the rest of the info, CPU-Z still reports 666.5mhz DRAM Frequency although the new timings are shown. Not sure if this will do. Someone had told me that I could manually set things up so I could get a DRAM Frequency of 16000mhz without being able to select it in the bio dropdown menu by going into the advanced stuff. Don't know if this was accurate.

Am I just screwed here? If I'm stuck at 1333mhz or 1400mhz, then what kinds of timing could I realistically set this to for better performance?
