Need a new Headset

Hi. I need to order a new headset. I've been using a SoundBlaster Tactic Sigma headset for as long as I can remember. I paid $50 for it many years ago and it still works just fine except it one big problem. The cord on the headset would always wind up itself and after many years of this a tear developed in the cord and some of the wires came out and ripped. The sound on the headset is fine but when I talk in just about any voice program the people on the other end say they can barely hear me. I've tried everything I could think of as far as troubleshooting goes and nothing worked so I'm fairly certain it's the ripped wires causing the issue.

I don't want another headset that will have this issue. The cords on my Razer Deathadder Chroma mouse and my Razer Keyboard are braided and they don't get wound up like the headset cord did. I'm guessing there are headsets with braided cords as well. Another thing I wouldn't object to is a wireless headset but I would want to be able to use it while it is charging as well for obvious reasons.

I mostly use the headset for gaming but sometimes watch movies/videos and listen to music but yea mostly gaming. I'd like to spend around $50-$100 on a new headset.

Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks!

Personally I'd go with the Game One, at least from what little I can recall from reviews, its sound is indeed excellent and is more comfortable than the Zero.

While it'd be better to have a dedicated sound card your integrated one will do just fine for it. Later on you can always add a sound card should you desire / find the need of a better quality sound regardless of your headset.
Should be good coming from a company devoted to sound cards for over 20 years.

It wouldn't be bad if you find an independent review of it, the sound quality might be great (again, should be coming from soundblaster) but maybe the headset itself is not that comfortable I dunno, or it has some tendency to break after a little while, that kind of stuff is what you can verify by checking a review or two before any purchase.

Hey man thanks for the replies. I've spent all day looking at headsets and now I'm thinking about splurging on something more expensive.

At first I thought I'd get something cheap like the HyperX Stinger and then the Cloud 2 and now I'm looking at Sennheiser GAME ZERO/GAME ONE and also the SteelSeries Arctis 7.

Seeing as how I have some extras cash right now I can get something more expensive so now I'm just trying to figure out exactly what to get and also if it's worth it.

Coming from this 10 year Tactic Sigma $50 headset I've no clue what a good headset sounds like. Do you think there would be a huge difference in sound quality between the HyperX Cloud Stinger and say the Sennheiser or SteelSeries?

Here are some of headsets i've been looking at today

1. Sennheiser GAME ZERO/ GAME ONE
2. SteelSeries Arctis 7
3. Logitech Artemis G933
4. HyperX Cloud Revoler
5. SteelSeries 350
6. HyperX Cloud 2
7. HyperX Cloud Stinger

I like both the Stinger and the cloud 2 and at their price points they look really good. I don't think I'll get the SoundBlaster H7.

There's also this one which is supposed to be really good but it's more expensive at $240

Sennheiser offerings above 200$ are worth their price indeed so if you can afford it by all means go for it, otherwise I'd say the Hyperx Cloud 2 is your best option from that list, the revolver is more sturdy but at great cost of comfort, as for steelseries their old Siberia V2 and 7H were their best headsets, even though the 7H was way too fragile and the Siberia V2 quality wasn't that great compared to current offerings.

So the Sennheiser headset I'm looking at is called the "GAME ONE." It's priced at over $270 on Sennheisers website but it's $100 less than that on Amazon and Newegg at $170. It's a back-open headset I think that's what it's called? Being open allows the ears to breathe which is nice but I thought that would also mean the sound is worse but apparently that isn't the case. I actually found some good info on headsets by some folks and they said that they really loved the open headset and that it only increased the sound quality. They also said you won't hear any backround noise except for things that you would actually want to hear like the door bell or phone ringing.

There's a Sennheiser GAME ZERO headset as well which is a closed-back headset and the ears can fold in but on that review place they said they didn't like the GAME ZERO sound as much as the GAME ONE.

Have any idea whats better between those two GAME ONE and GAME ZERO? Also, they mentioned something about the GAME ONEs potential only being maxed out with a good sound card or amp. I just have the on-board sound on my mobo MSI Z87 G45 gaming do you think that is enough?

The SteelSeries Arctis 7 was the top pick on some reviews I saw today, actually the Toms review of headsets showed it as their top pick. It looks nice too but it's cheaper than the Sennheiser and I'm just assuming the Sennheiser is better.

Oh one more big difference between the GAME ONE and GAME ZERO is the ear pads. The GAME ONE has plush velvet cushion and GAME ZERO has leatherette.
